General Description:

Also known as papaya.
Large edible berry containing many seeds in the hollow core.
Generally green when unripe, matures to yellow or brown.
Flesh is golden yellow or orange / red with a smooth texture.
Flavour is similar to a rockmelon and can change from grower to grower.


Selection:

Choose sweet smelling, unbruised paw paws free from deterioration such as black spots.
During the year paw paws may have markings resembling freckles on the skin these are ok & do not affect the flesh.

High in Vitamin C, Vitamin A & Folate.
Source of essential amino acids & Potassium.

Storage & Handling Information:

Fully ripe paw paws will only last a few days at room temperature.
You can keep a fully ripe paw paw in the fridge for about a week.
Prior to being fully ripe a paw paw can last up to 3 weeks in the fridge & can then become ripe at room temperature.
