Tamarillo
General Description:
Egg shaped fruit also known as a tree tomato.
Size ranges from 2 to 8 cm in length.
On the outside is a tough bitter skin that ranges in colour from glossy red to purple, amber or yellow.
Under the skin you'll find a sour flavour packed golden pink flesh around many seeds.
Selection:
Select firm unblemished tamarillos that feel heavy for their size.
Once ripe they will have a fragrant scent and will yield slightly to gentle pressure.
