Mangosteen
General Description:

A tropical fruit with fragrant edible flesh that is sweet and creamy and has a citrus taste with some peach flavour.
Typically 6–8 cm in outside diameter.
Colour changes from green to red to dark purple as the fruit reaches ripeness over about 10 days.
Internally the fruit has wedge-shaped arils contains 4–8 segments - some containing unpalatable seeds.


Selection:

Select those without skin imperfections or major discolouration.
Favour heavier fruits with green stems.
